13 miles in 2.25 hrs

Wow! Ive seen some BIG snow storms before but what I drove through tonight was impressive to say the least.

It took me from just after 5pm till just before 7:30pm to travel the 13 miles home from work.  There were times where NOT getting home at all was a possibility.  It appears that I was one of the lucky ones

I really feel for the people, especially the kids, caught in this one.  I was in my Prius aka the 'California Car' aka the Winter Death Trap.  Visibility was zero on the south side of the mountain.  Snow was dumping into 70 mph North winds.

Something somewhat trivial but convenient for my lengthy commute was the fact that I had synch'd my iPod with several Podcasts (PTI, and Mike and Mike) that made the trip actually, dare I admit it, enjoyable and at times relaxing.  Tells you how stressful life must be if winter storm driving has become recreational.  Go figure.

I really missed having my camera phone tonight.  The scene was surreal.  I just hope everyone gets home safe.  Think I may be dialing it in tomorrow morning.  Yeah, I think so.

We had a freak snowstorm last night, but it was nothing like that.

That should teach you not to go outside ever again. you never know what's going to happen.

You are very wise, D, beyond your years. I will never go outside again...or until the DietMDs run out.

We got about a foot, but nothing as wild as yours. I heard that some kids had to stay all night at their elementary school--was that the one that A goes attends?

Not his, though it is the school his best friend goes to.

I'm so glad you made it! I know Jamie was worried, as she called here to see if you had decided to not attempt the commute and stay with us. I was really worried about Jinnee, too! Glad it's over.
